Which Paint Should You Choose?

As professional decorators we normally use Dulux or Glidden Trade Paints as these are better quality than the normal domestic range which you can buy in DIY stores.  Dulux Trade Paint can normally be purchased at a Dulux Decorator Centre or other trade centres.  It is perfectly OK for a member of the public to purchase paint at these centres.  Below is a brief description of the types of paint we use and the reasons why, based on our experience.  These are all Dulux Trade Paints.

Dulux Trade Supermatt Emulsion

A matt emulsion used for interior walls and ceilings that are not fully dry.  It is ideal to use on new plaster and plaster board.  It is the paint normally used in new houses and extensions.  Available in 34 colours.

Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt Emulsion

A matt emulsion ideal for use on interior walls, ceilings, lining paper, woodchip and anaglypta wallpaper.  This is the main paint finish we use for these areas because of its superior ability to cover. Available in over 12,000 colours.

Dulux Trade Vinyl Silk Emulsion

A silk emulsion paint used for interior walls and ceilings.  It is best used on textured plaster and anaglypta wallpaper.  We do not recommend its use on flat ceilings and walls as it tends to show up imperfections, roller marks and brush marks. Available in over 12,000 colours.

Dulux Trade Diamond Matt

A tough matt emulsion ideal for use on interior walls and ceilings. It is scrubbable, stain resistant and gives ultimate performance. It is up to 10 times more durable than silk emulsions.  We believe this is a brilliant product.  It is very good at protecting walls from sticky fingers and in areas of heavy use.  We also recommend it for Kitchens and Bathrooms. Available in over 12,000 colours.

Dulux Trade High Gloss

A gloss, oil-based finish for general use, both interior and exterior, on surfaces such as window frames, doors, skirtings, radiators, cladding, fascias, etc.  It is washable. It is very creamy and tends to resist drips and sagging.  Available in over 12,000 colours.

Dulux Trade Eggshell

A tough, durable, low-sheen oil-based finish for use on interior window frames, doors, skirtings, radiators, etc.  It is washable and low-odour.  Available in over 12,000 colours.

Dulux Trade Satinwood

A tough, durable, mid-sheen oil-based finish for use on interior window frames, doors, skirtings, radiators, etc.  It is washable. Available in over 12,000 colours.

Dulux Trade Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint

For use on most masonry walls and render.  It has a smooth finish which resists dirt pick-up, keeping your property looking better for longer.  It also contains fungicide and algicide to resist growths on the surface of walls.  It provides up to 15 years protection.  We have been using this paint for the last 25 years and feel that is is the best masonry paint on the market. Available in over 1,800 colours.

Dulux Trade Protective Woodsheen

A good quality interior and exterior stain for woodwork.  It has a semi-transparent satin finish.  It is good for window frames, doors, cladding, sills, etc. and is a high-build product similar to varnish as it “sits” on the surface of the wood.  Available in 48 colours.

Non-Dulux stains which we frequently use:

Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain

A good quality interior and exterior stain for woodwork. It has a semi-transparent satin finish.  It is good for window frames, doors, cladding, sills, etc. and is a high-build product similar to varnish as it “sits” on the surface of the wood.  Available in 48 colours.

Sadolin Classic Wood Protection

A good quality stain for exterior woodwork.  It has a semi-transparent low-sheen finish.  It is good for planed and sawn timber, fascia boards, cladding, fences and gates.  It is a low-build product which is partly absorbed into the surface of the wood and partly “sits” on the surface.  Available in 48 colours.

Reference Letters

“Please find enclosed a cheque for the work done on our house.  We are very pleased with it, particularly the work to the lounge/dining area.  The decorator left the house spotlessly clean and did an excellent job.”            Mrs. S.

“We are absolutely delighted with the excellent work undertaken.  The dining room, stairs and landing have been transformed and the professional manner in which the work was achieved really impressed us.  In fact, we are so pleased that hopefully we would like your firm to do some more work for us in the new year.”                                      Mrs. S.

“I must say that we are delighted with the end result - our lounge looks so much brighter.  I hope that I can call on your services again, probably next year, and meanwhile am happy to recommend you to colleagues, friends and neighbours.”

                                                                         Mr. D.

“The completion of this work has been very satisfactory to me from all points of view.  It was most convenient that you were able to undertake the work so quickly.  The standard of workmanship throughout is of the highest order and your men were extremely tidy.  I am pleased to have found a decorator to whom I would be happy to return for further work.”

                                                                          Mr. S.
